Advocacy

The GSS is here for graduate students!

In our day-to-day operations, we provide peer support, referrals, and advice from people who have been there. We also meet with the President and Senior Administration regularly and raise concerns on behalf of our members. We encourage our members to take a look at our annual Strategic Plans below to see our major goals and areas of focus for our advocacy work.

Campus Advocacy Groups

Connect with the campus groups that are here to advocate for you during your time as a UVic student!

Campus A-Z

Looking for a big list of campus and community resources, what supports they provide, and their contact info? Look no further!

Want something fixed at UVic?

Graduate students (and groups of graduate students) are encouraged to bring their concerns to the attention of the Director of Internal Relations for campus-based issues, and the Director of External Relations for broader, provincial or national issues. They can bring the issue (anonymously) to the Executive Board. The Board can then bring proposals to change a policy or practice to the President, the Dean of Graduate Studies, or any other relevant UVic Senior Administrator. The GSS has been successful in changing some policies for all students on the strength of the information brought to us by one or two members.
